runDisney Summer Virtual Happily Ever After Challenge

🌟Happily Ever After, One Virtual Mile at a Time

‱

Completing the #runDisney Happily Ever After Virtual Challenge wasn’t just about crossing finish lines—it was about honoring memories, embracing the elements, and chasing magic in unexpected places. Each of the three 5Ks in this series told its own story, and together, they formed a journey I’ll never forget.

🚂 Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Virtual 5K

Live Replay of Race

📅 June 7th – Josh Miller Memorial 5K (Live)
⏱ Time: 38:43 | Pace: 12:30 min/mile | Placement: 2nd in Division

This challenge kicked off with meaning. Running live for the Josh Miller Memorial 5K added a deep personal layer to what was already a spirited start. Pairing that heartfelt energy with the theme of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad gave this run an adrenaline-infused spark. With a strong pace and a second-place finish in my division, it set a tone of determination and pride.

đŸ›¶ Jungle Cruise Virtual 5K

Live Replay of Race

📅 June 20th – WDW Wilderness Lodge
⏱ Time: 51:38 | Pace: 16:20 min/mile

Jungle Cruise might be known for witty skippers and wild adventures, but nothing prepared me for the real trek through the dense Florida humidity. At 75°F with 94% humidity, this wasn’t just a run—it was a full-on expedition. Slower pace? Sure. But the sheer effort it took to push through that soupy air made this one of the most rewarding moments of the challenge. Skipper jokes not included—unless you count the sweat!

☠ Pirates of the Caribbean Virtual 5K

Live Replay of Race

📅 June 28th – Run the Vineyards: Blue Mountain Winery
⏱ Time: 44:08 | Pace: 14:12 min/mile | Elevation Gain: 400+ ft

If ever there was a run worthy of the high seas, this was it. The rolling terrain of Blue Mountain Winery was gorgeous—and punishing. Over 400 feet of elevation gain tested every stride, every breath. But in true pirate fashion, I braved the hills with grit and grit alone (no buried treasure at the finish, but a solid glass of post-run wine may have done the trick).

✹ Final Thoughts

This challenge blended joy, resilience, and a touch of pixie dust. Each run delivered something different—competition, perseverance, grit. But together, they formed a personal trilogy of triumph. Whether sweating through the swampy paths of Wilderness Lodge or scaling vineyard hills, I ran for the magic, and the magic kept me moving.

Until the next adventure
happily ever after doesn’t end at the castle gates—it begins when you lace up and chase it.
